“We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope.“ – Martin Luther King, Jr.

Good morning peeps , meditation done.
Quote for the Day:
“We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope.“
Martin Luther King, Jr.
Just recently, literally out of nowhere I have been asked to audition for some filmed parts and it has taken me back to my former life as a dancer, model and actor, where you have to deal with the almost daily feeling of rejection if you do not get a part or job.
Acting castings and auditions do not come around that often, dancing auditions especially when you first start are more frequent and as a model you have to go to castings almost on a daily basis.
No matter how successful you are, you are going to be rejected from time to time and if it is a big job, that you really wanted to do, it is going to really hurt and you are going to feel really disappointed if you do not get the job.
Sometimes you have been called back to cast again for a job, this means you have been short listed and you are that step closer to getting the job, which means you begin to think you are in with a real chance of winning the role and if you eventually do not get the role you are that bit more hurt and disappointed.
It is a tough career, rejection hurts and the disappointment can really affect your emotions. Just look at reality talent shows like X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent to see how disappointed people are, the tears are real and make great viewing for those sat on their sofa’s at home on a Saturday evening.
It is hard not to let the disappointment and rejection affect you and your confidence, but you must not let it, you must not take it personally. It is only someone’s opinion and everybody’s opinions are different, that is what makes the world such an interesting place to live in, the fact that everyone is different, lives in different ways and has different opinions.
I try to think of the whole audition and casting process as a character building exercise and if I do not get something I try to learn from it and think how can I improve myself and come back better and stronger in my art and in my life and this is what I try to pass onto my students.
Have a thoughtful Thursday peeps.
“We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope.”
May all your dreams come true.
