“There is no “i” in team but there is in win.” – Michael Jordan
Good morning peeps, meditation done.
Quote for the Day:
“There is no “i” in team but there is in win.”
Playing sport growing up the importance of teamwork was drummed into us, with our coaches repeatedly telling us,
“There is no “i” in team”
“You are only as good as your weakest link”
These phrases are very important and true in sport as well as business. You have to all work together towards a common goal and if there is a weak link somewhere amongst your team this will limit how successful you will be.
But Michael Jordan adds, “but there is in win” to this well known phrase and it takes it’s meaning to a whole new level in two ways.
To win or to be successful every member of the team has to win their own personal battle against their opponent and at the highest level in sport where fitness, technical ability and tactical organisation is so equal and the ‘fine margins’ have been optimised in all areas to the maximum effect, often the difference between the champions and everyone else is one person who stands out above everyone else. Think Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in football, Steve Jobs and Sir Richard Branson in business and of course the author of today’s quote Michael Jordan.
With five regular-season Most Valuable Player Awards – MVPs, six Finals MVPs (NBA record), and three All-Star MVPs, Michael Jordan is the most decorated player ever to play in the NBA. Jordan finished among the top three in regular-season MVP voting a record 10 times. He is one of only seven players in history to win an NCAA championship, an NBA championship, and an Olympic gold medal (doing so twice with the 1984 and 1992 U.S. men’s basketball teams).
“There’s Michael Jordan and then there is the rest of us.”
— Magic Johnson
Many of his contemporaries say that Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player of all time.
I know that to achieve my business goals this year I am blessed to have a great team around me. A team of people who are world class at what they do in each of their areas of expertise – Management, financial, building, creative and health, fitness and wellbeing.
We have built up a tremendous team spirit, are very well organised, have adaptable tactics and strategies and have studied the opposition thoroughly our preparation and attention to detail is of the highest order, but ultimately I know that when it comes down to it my business’ success is based on my ability to be the star performer in my field.
It is time for me to step up to the plate, dig deep and use all the skill, knowledge and experience I have built up over the last thirty years in my career as all my heroes, Pele, Muhammad Ali, Viv Richards and Daley Thompson have done as Michael Jordan, Steve Jobs and Sir Richard Branson have done and Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are doing now.
It is time to create my own legacy, right here, right now in 2017.
Make sure you step up to the plate and do everything you can to create your own legacy by surrounding yourself with winners.
Have a wonderful and winning Wednesday peeps.
May all your dreams come true.
