“He who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life.” – Muhammad Ali
Good morning peeps , meditation done.
Quote for the Day:
“He who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life.”
Another brilliant quote from one of the most brilliant men to walk the planet. From early in his career, Muhammad Ali was known as an inspiring, controversial, and polarising figure both inside and outside the ring and is widely regarded as one of the most significant and celebrated sports and public figures of the 20th century.
He has inspired me ever since I was a child, when I modelled myself on him and I would like to think I have been courageous enough in my life to take risks to achieve the things I have wanted to achieve.
I left home at 16 to go to study sport in Chichester, then at 18 I went to Spain on holiday with eleven friends and got a job dancing in a night club and stayed there to work, whilst all my friends went back home to Hassocks. Then at 19 I quit university after a year to become a ballet dancer. At 24 whilst on tour as a dancer in Japan with Pete Burns and Dead or Alive on the last day I decided not to go back to England and lived and worked in Osaka. When I finished dancing I became a personal trainer, football coach and choreographer and set up my own sports event production company and ran the entertainment package in cricket for all televised games for the ECB, 10 years ago I decided to go to Goa in India after doing one yoga class with Lara Baumann and whilst there I decided that I loved yoga so much that I began my yoga teacher training with her on my return to England. 6 years ago I left my company, my career and all my friends behind in London and moved to Cromarty in the Highlands to look after my mother. Today I have dedicated the rest of my life to raising £7 million pounds to creating my own Elysium luxury lifestyle clubs, starting with a club on a country estate, then 12-18 months later one in London and 12-18 months after that one in Bali.
Elysium as a noun means a place or state of perfect happiness.
Elysium as a verb means beautiful, blissful, creative, divinely, inspired, peaceful and perfect
Put simply it is PARADISE
My vision is to create clubs that offer a blend of high-end holistic, fitness, dance and yoga. Balanced against a members club with luxury guesthouse.
I have practiced yoga and meditation everyday for the last 10 years.
I find the practicing of yoga everyday really helps me in all aspects of my life.
The more I practice the stronger my breathing becomes and the more control of it I have and the calmer I have become.
The better I fuel my body the better I feel both mentally and physically.
The yoga poses and breathing teach me that if I control my breath I can control my mind. The pain and discomfort I feel in the awkward yoga poses, will go away if I breathe and stay calm. This mirrors situations in life which can seem impossible with no way out, but if you stay calm, focused and breathe then your head clears, the situation does not seem as bad as you first thought and you can see a way forward.
Yoga has taught me to focus my mind and not be distracted by outdoor forces and things that I cannot control.
I have also learnt that I cannot do all the poses or asana, but this is not failure, the point of yoga is not to be able to do all the poses, it is the daily process of trying to achieve them that is important. Because as soon as you have mastered a difficult pose, you will come across another one that you will feel is impossible, when you first start, but if you practice every day it will become a little bit easier as you improve every day.
Together with nutrition and sleeping, this is the basis of my Elysium Way Training System.
The Elysium Way enhances and enriches lives allowing you to reach your full potential physically, mentally and spiritually.
And one of the main components of the Elysium Way is practicing yoga.
