“One reason so few of us achieve what we truly want is that we never direct our focus; we never concentrate our power. Most people dabble their way through life, never deciding to master anything in particular.” – Tony Robbins
Good morning peeps, meditation done.
Quote for the Day:
“One reason so few of us achieve what we truly want is that we never direct our focus; we never concentrate our power. Most people dabble their way through life, never deciding to master anything in particular.”
Today is the day I begin to write my goals for 2017.
I start today because I believe it takes two to three days to really write your goals for the year properly, so that you can direct your focus to achieve what you truly want in your life.
LIFE IS ALL ABOUT DREAMS AND ACHIEVING YOUR GOALS. GOALS ARE KEY TO MEASURING SUCCESS.
We have business goals, health and fitness goals, social goals, relationship goals, and family goals and in a lot of sports the scoring of goals.
When you write your dreams down on a piece of paper, this has now turned your dream into a goal.
Once you have set your goals, you have a path to follow and that path may mean you have to follow it up a hill. At times it will be difficult and you will feel like you can’t go on, but if you take one step at a time you will eventually get to the top of the hill and reach that goal. The feeling and sense of achievement when you have reached your goal will make you ecstatic.
To achieve your dreams, your goals, you will have some decisions to make, which may seem difficult at the time, but really the decision is quite simple: do I want to achieve my goal or not?
Will the choice of avoiding the gym, having another glass of wine, putting it off to another day or having another piece of chocolate cake, take me one step closer or one step further away from my dream, my goal?
These choices are yours and yours alone, I am just giving you the tools to help you make an informed decision for your body and your life.
To help you set your goals you first need a vision, a 5 Year Vision.
Write from the future, where do you want to be in 5 years time?
Your vision for your life will dictate your action plan so it is very important and again your goals needs to be very specific and measurable.
A nice thing to add on to your vision is what makes you really happy in life? This will help you identify what you really want. This takes time and thought, but once you have done it your life will be a lot clearer and achieving your vision will be a lot simpler than you may imagine.
Once you have a 5 Year Vision it will give you a better understanding of how to set your goals let’s begin setting your four life goals of Wealth, Health, Social Self and Personal Enrichment.
You may want to increase your wealth or you may need to reduce your debt, either way you need to be specific. If you want to reduce or eliminate your debt how much will you need to increase your income or save to achieve this? Write your ideas down on paper until you come up with a specific figure.
You may have decided that you want to lose weight, how much weight and when do you want to do it by? Once you have that specific amount and how many weeks to do it by, you can work out how much you need to lose each week, how many calories you need to lose or burn off each day.
Social self could mean your family, your relationship status or your friends. You need to be specific, do you want to see your family more, do you want to meet a new partner do you want to meet 10 new friends?
Do you want to get involved with a charity or maybe you want to start going to church? There is a lot more to life than working and earning money, what really matters to you, write it down, but of course you need to remember to be specific.
Now you have your four categories of life goals, go through them and write three short-term goals for 90 days and 30 days for each of your major goals.
That gives you a goal for the month and a goal for the quarter.
So now you have set four major goals in your four lifetime categories, then you have set three shorter-term goals for each of your four major categories and finally you have set three process goals for each of your short-term goals.
This is how you get on the path to success.
The final step and for a lot of people probably the most difficult step is to share your goals. When you share your goals with the right people you increase your success rate.
If you share your goals, you will increase your chances of success in achieving them, by being accountable.
Many people thought that Muhammad Ali made his bold statements and predictions as a self motivational tool, on the prefix that as he had made a public declaration that he was going to do something in a certain round, then he knew he had to achieve it or face ridicule and be deemed a failure, he was not about to let this happen. If this is the case, then if it was good enough for Muhammad Ali, “The Greatest of All Time” then it is certainly good enough for me.
The most important thing to remember is whatever you do in life you have to practice everyday, your breathing, your eating, your health, your fitness, your job, your parenting, your sleeping, you have to form good habits and practice them everyday.
Ten tears ago I was in the middle of a particularly painful relationship break up. I was feeling devastated, a mixture of hurt and anger whilst I was on the phone arguing with my ex girlfriend. I remember thinking that I just couldn’t go on like this, I hadn’t slept for weeks, I wasn’t eating properly and I felt absolutely awful.
Physically I looked fine, but I realised that I had spent my whole life working to maximise my body’s physical optimal potential as a top class sportsman, professional ballet dancer, entering into the commercial entertainment world of musicals, pop tours and modelling. Before becoming a choreographer, football coach and personal trainer, but mentally, emotionally and spiritually I was a wreck and all over the place.
Little did I realise that this all time low would prove to be the life changing catalyst, which enabled me to begin my journey to a new improved lifestyle.
I began studying yoga, which I instantly fell in love with and so embarked on a yoga teacher-training course in London and Goa.
In fact exactly ten years ago today I was in Goa on my first ever yoga retreat.
I realised that my mind was like the rest of my body, the more I exercised and practiced the stronger it would become and the more control of it I would have.
The yoga poses and breathing taught me that if I controlled my breath I could control my mind. I discovered that the pain and discomfort I would feel in the awkward yoga poses, would go away if I breathed and stayed calm. This mirrored situations in life which can seem impossible with no way out, but if you stay calm, focused and breathe then your head clears, the situation does not seem as bad as you first thought and you can see a way forward.
I recognised that other training methods worked with a one dimensional approach, focusing on fitness or nutrition, yet they were missing the vital link. The power of the mind and it’s influence over addictions to drinking, smoking and unhealthy eating habits triggered by the stresses and time restraints of modern city life which are so disruptive to the essential life/work balance.
That’s the basis of my Elysium Way Training System.
The Elysium Way enhances and enriches lives allowing you to reach your full potential physically, mentally and spiritually.
And one of the main components of the Elysium Way is practicing yoga.
