“The only place where your goals and dreams are impossible is inside your head.” – M. Scott Peck

Good morning peeps, meditation done.
Quote for the Day:
“The only place where your goals and dreams are impossible is inside your head.”
Scott Peck
When watching my favourite program ‘Match of the Day’ on a Saturday night I often hear the pundits talking about confidence.
They will say a player or team is ‘on fire’ at the moment, they are playing with so much confidence and without any inhibition.
At the same time for the teams at the bottom of the table or a striker who isn’t scoring any goals they will talk about them playing with no confidence, with inhibition and a fear of failure, which is making them make costly mistakes or the striker is thinking too much before he shoots and misses the opportunity.
Athletes, entrepreneurs, public speakers and actors all realise the importance of self-confidence. Lack of confidence can impede you from achieving your peak performance, while self-confidence can help you overcome obstacles and pursue and use those skills you own to succeed.
A self-confident person has faith in themselves and their abilities while at the same time having realistic expectations, according to the University of Illinois.
A self-confident person can set fear aside and take a chance while someone who lacks self-confidence may stay on the sidelines out of fear of failing.
Do you find a lack of self-confidence is holding you back?
Do you suffer from self-doubt and a fear of failure?
These thoughts that are going on in your own head, the tricks your own mind is playing with your confidence can hold you back and stop you achieving your goals and fulfilling your dreams.
A few simple behavioural changes in your daily life may help give your self-confidence an immediate boost.
Good posture.
As you psych yourself up for an important event like a big meeting at work or a public speaking engagement hold your head high and stand tall with your weight evenly balanced over each foot. Appearing self-confident can make you feel self-confident.
Speak Deliberately
If you are a person who is self-confident you will be apt to speak slowly because you believe that what you have to say matters.
If you feel that you are not worth listening to you may be prone to speaking quickly out of concern that you are wasting your listener’s time. Making the decision to speak at a slower pace can give your self-confidence a quick lift.
Smile
Greeting people with a smile can make you appear more confident to others as well as to yourself. Smiling can improve your mood. Keeping your eyes focused on the person you are smiling at is a sign of self-assurance.
Helping Other People
Focusing on the needs of someone else can give your self-confidence an immediate shot in the arm. A simple split-second act of kindness such as opening a door for someone or allowing another to go ahead of you in a long line at the checkout can make you feel better about yourself.
Exercise
Taking time out to take care for your body sends a message that you are worth taking care of. Regular exercise such as going for a walk can make you feel better about yourself.
Be Honest
Being truthful can enhance your self-confidence. Telling lies can add to feelings of low self-worth. Choosing honesty in your day-to-day interactions may help you feel better about yourself.
Acknowledge Your Strengths
Positive affirmations can give your self-confidence a quick lift. Take a few moments to write down several things you like about yourself. Refer to your list whenever negative self-talk tries to take hold.
Look Sharp
Take care of your appearance, the simple acts of taking a shower, shaving or taking a few extra minutes to do your hair and iron your shirt can make all the difference to how you feel.
Before I teach a class or personal train I like get to the gym early, I like to have done yoga and work out, have a nice long shower to feel clean, relaxed and loosen up my muscles and then I like to cream my body and face, brush my teeth and put on a nice cologne. I like to feel fresh and smell nice before I teach other people.
If I have an important meeting or a public speaking engagement I like to go to the barbers or clipper my hair and stubble at home, take my suit out of the dry cleaners, put on a freshly laundered shirt and polish my shoes. This makes me feel good in my appearance; good in myself and feel confident in my ability to do whatever I need to do to be successful.
The daily practice of yoga for the last 10 years has really helped boost my own self-confidence and self-awareness by helping me focus and clear my mind of any feelings of self-doubt.
I realised that my mind was like the rest of my body, the more I exercised and practiced the stronger it would become and the more control of it I would have.
The yoga poses and breathing taught me that if I controlled my breath I could control my mind. I discovered that the pain and discomfort I would feel in the awkward yoga poses, would go away if I breathed and stayed calm. This mirrored situations in life which can seem impossible with no way out, but if you stay calm, focused and breathe then your head clears, the situation does not seem as bad as you first thought and you can see a way forward.
I have also learnt that I cannot do all the poses or asanas, but this is not failure, the point of yoga is not to be able to do all the poses, it is the daily process of trying to achieve them that is important. Because as soon as you have mastered a difficult pose, you will come across another one that you will feel is impossible, when you first start, but if you practice every day it will become a little bit easier as you improve every day.
This is the basis of my Elysium Way Training System.

And one of the main components of the Elysium Way is practicing yoga.
