“Reflect upon your present blessings of which every man has many – not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some.” – Charles Dickens
Good morning peeps, meditation done.
Quote for the Day:
“Reflect upon your present blessings of which every man has many – not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some.”
Today I have woken up in the Highlands to the unconditional love of my faithful, furry, four-legged friend Zeus who has reached the grand old age of eleven today.
He has given me immeasurable amounts of love and joy for each and every one of the days we have spent together.
I first met him when he was just six weeks old tiny Hungarian Vizsla puppy and he was the size of my foot.
But by the time I saw him again six weeks later after returning from a yoga retreat in Goa he had outgrown the crate I had brought to pick him up and take him home with me from Swindon to Primrose Hill on the train.
He has become my closest friend, advisor and inspiration ever since for nearly everything I do.
He has appeared in Magazines and TV, he has rolled around the floor with Kylie Minogue, licking her face and sucking her toes, much to my and every man in Britain’s envy, he has strolled round Hyde Park with Cherie Blair, accompanied by armed security and found love in the grounds of Emma Bunton’s house, he has shared the sofa with Louie Spence, he is equally at home, in the Electric at Notting Hill or the cafe’s of Primrose Hill as he is in the hills of the Highlands or round the golf course in Aberdeen.
We travel together by train or car, occasionally with me on horseback, but our favourite mode of transport is by foot walking side by side in the countryside, along the beach or the city.
For the last two years we have been joined by his younger pal Zorro also a Vizsla, who wears us both out with his endless bonding energy at the age of two and a half as Zeus and I get greyer and greyer.
Zeus has provided me with seven years of unconditional love and pleasure, has seen me at my lowest times and never ever let me down, and today is dedicated to him, and long may we carry on walking together, side by side.
To celebrate and commemorate his Birthday we are going to spend the day in the countryside with his young partner in crime Zorro capturing our day together on film with my friend local photographer Claire Scott of Wonder Years Portrait Photography.
If the boys and the weather allows me I will get to spend a bit of my day on my yoga mat, outdoors at one with nature and a stunning backdrop of Highland mountains.
If you would like to spend time with me practicing yoga in an equally stunning location, but a damn sight warmer climate, why not join me on my yoga retreat in Morocco at the five – star luxurious Mazagan Beach Resort from the 10th to 17th of December.
