“Sun salutations can energize and warm you, even on the darkest, coldest winter day.” – Carol Krucoff
Good morning peeps, meditation done.
Quote for the Day:
“Sun salutations can energize and warm you, even on the darkest, coldest winter day.”
Even if I don’t get to do my full yoga practice in the day I always make sure that I do my Sun Salutations in the morning before I do any other type of physical exercise.
Sun Salutations warm up the whole body and use more muscles than any other exercise I know.
The muscles used are the shoulders, arms, chest, abdominal, lower-back, front-hip, thighs, hamstrings and calves or to give the muscles their full names that’s the Pectoralis Major, Deltoids, Serratus Anterior, Coracobrachialis, Triceps, Rectus Abdominus, Transversal Abdominus, Erector Spinae, Psoas major, Psoas minor, Iliacus, Gluteus Maximus, Quadriceps, Hamstrings, Gastrocnemius and Soleus.
Sun Salutations or Surya Namaskara are a very ancient technique of paying respect or expressing gratitude to the Sun that is the source of all forms of life on the planet.
Sun Salutations – Surya Namaskara are a set of 12 postures, including downward dog – Adho Mukha Shvanasana and upward dog – Urdhva Mukha Svanasana preferably to be done at the time of sunrise.
The regular practice of Sun Salutations is said to improve circulation of blood throughout the body, maintains health, and helps one remain disease-free.
There are numerous benefits of Sun Salutations for the heart, liver, intestine, stomach, chest, throat, legs. From head to toe, every part of the body is greatly benefitted by Sun Salutations, which is why they are highly recommended by all yoga experts.
It is said that Surya Namaskara can do what months of dieting cannot. Hence, it’s a blessing for health-conscious women as it not only help lose extra calories, but it offers an easy and inexpensive way to be in proper shape by stretching the abdominal muscles naturally.
Some of the Sun Salutation poses help lose extra fat on belly by stimulating sluggish glands like the thyroid gland (which has a big effect on your weight) to increase hormonal secretions.
Regularly practicing Surya Namaskara can regulate irregular menstrual cycles among women and also ensure an easy childbirth. Last but not the least; it helps in bringing back the glow on your face, preventing onset of wrinkles and making it ageless and radiant.
